Vor ein paar Tagen schrieb ich schon ein paar Takte zu dem Projekt “Recycled Island”, eine Vision die bereits bei der BILD erwähnt worden ist. Nun ist mir gerade erneut ein Link dazu untergekommen, dass die ersten visuellen Impressionen zeigt, wie diese Insel ausschauen könnte.
Recycled island is a research project on the potential of realizing a habitable floating island in the Pacific Ocean made from all the plastic waste that is momentarily floating around in the ocean.
The proposal has three main aims; Cleaning our oceans from a gigantic amount of plastic waste; Creating new land; And constructing a sustainable habitat. Recycled island seeks the possibilities to recycle the plastic waste on the spot and to recycle it into a floating entity. The constructive and marine technical aspects take part in the project of creating a sea worthy island.
Klasse Idee – Plastikflaschen werden recyclet und zu “Chico” Tragetaschen im IKEA-Taschen-Kleinformat reproduziert. Simpel, Clever, und etwas freundlicher für die Umwelt.

Bastler Victor Vetterlein hat für sein neueste Projekt eine – recyclete Tischlampe im Baukasten Prinzip – auf simple Materialiejn zurückgegriffen. Aus insgesamt vier Eierkartons, die er nass machte, formte und trocknen liess, konstruierte er eine Nachttischlampe, die mehr oder minder alleine von einigen Alu-Schrauben zusammengehalten wird.
Wer sich schon immer fragte – wohin mit den ganzen PET Flaschen, die er hier und da so aufgreift, für den bietet sich nun (im Amiland) die passende Lösung. Nennt sich “The Dream Machine”, entwickelt von PEPSI, Waste Management und Keep America Beautiful. So schaut Sie aus ..
Funktionsweise ist eigentlich recht simpel: “Mann oder Frau wirft die Plastikflaschen oder Alu Behälter (und seien wir mal ehrlich – ein paar überflüssige Dinger tragen wir regelmässig mit uns rum) in diesen Automaten ein, wenn mal keine andere Recyling Alternative zur Hand ist – und bekommt “Gummi-Punkte” gutgeschrieben, die sich eines Tages in schöne Preise einlösen lassen.”
Sowas wie PAYBACK, nur eben fürs Recycling. Denn andernfalls landet der Plastikstoff im normalen Müll – und das recyclen wird schwer. So aber – ist es die effizienteste und umweltschonenste Möglichkeit .. Flaschen loszuwerden. Get Coked .. thx Pepsi!
The Dream Machine is a new reverse vending machine manufactured by GreenOps that provides access to on-the-go recycling. An added bonus: Each container recycled will earn you prizes.
Consumers can drop off PET plastic bottles or aluminum cans and receive points redeemable at either the host venue or Greenopolis.com, an interactive community provided by Waste Management that promotes recycling and rewards recyclers. (Check out the video below for a quick demo.)
“We know that convenience is key for consumers when recycling and this program focuses on the hardest to get containers – those consumed on the go,” says Wes Muir, director of communications at Waste Management. “Several thousand Dream Machines will be rolled out this year across the country.”
The goal of the kiosks is to recycle at least 400 million containers annually once the machines are more readily available, and each kiosk can hold about 300 cans before it needs to be emptied.
Currently, these machines can only be found in 150 North Carolina Rite Aid stores, but there will be up to 3,000 scattered around Southern California by this summer. Waste Management is also partnering with Keep America Beautiful to find ideal spots throughout its 600 local affiliates.
Es gibt echt Dinge – da fragt man sich, wie DIES überhaupt funktionieren kann. Wie da wäre zum Beispiel an ein Bambus Fahhrad – und genau so eines haben jetzt Studenten an der technischen Uni Berlin erfunden .. und wurden auch direkt noch dafür ausgezeichnet.
Damit wollen die Nachwuchswissenschaftler einen Beitrag zur nachhaltigen Mobilität und der Verwendung nachwachsender Rohstoffe leisten, wofür sie samt ihrer Entwicklung nun beim bundesweitern Wettbewerb „365 Orte im Land der Ideen“ als „Ausgewählter Ort“ ausgezeichnet werden.
