Scientific research, using findings from NASA’s GRACE satellites, have shown ice loss from Greenland and Antarctica, and the loss of water from India and Africa. The latest Grace findings show that California is rapidly drying out, having lost almost 30 cubic kilometers (7.2 cubic miles) of fresh water since 2003. This is equivalent to 29 trillion (a thousand billion) litres of water (7.9 trillion US gallons), or a mind-boggling 12 million Olympic-sized swimming pools.
